Throughout the year, I teach at various venues around Vancouver Island. 

During  July,  I teach at the Summer Art Series, Red Deer College, AB  and at

MISSA in Metchosin, BC.

Join this one-day course will to create a one of a kind pair of silver chandelier earrings. Silver, pearls and semi-precious stones will all be provided and students will learn to saw, texture, patina and design something truly unique. Wire and chain work will be part of the class and students will learn some very simple soldering techniques as well. All materials are included in the course fee. See the supply list online for some basic items that you may need to bring from home, such as a mask, apron and safety glasses.

Silver Bracelet With Riveted Pearl

In a dynamic one-day course students will make a sterling silver, interlocking bracelet with a riveted pearl or stone as the clasp. This bracelet design locks into itself, allowing the wearer to take it on and off safely. All materials are included in the course fee. See the supply list online for some basic items that you may need to bring from home, such as a mask, apron and safety glasses.

ROLLER PRINTED BRACELET BANGLE

Create a beautiful bracelet as a Christmas present in this class. Working with mixed metals and polished abalone or mother of pearl as the stone, metal will be roller printed and the shell will be riveted to the bracelet. Each student will design their own piece and have a truly unique bracelet. All materials included and a $50  materials fee required per student.

SILVER SPINNER RINGS

Learn how to size and create a unique spinner ring of your own
design. You will saw, texture and decorate the ring blank. It will
be soldered shut and then embellished with copper or brass
spinners, polished and a patina applied if so desired. If time allows
a 2nd spinner ring can be made in copper. All materials provided and a $50 dollar material fee required from each student.

Working with silver, copper and brass, chain, pearls and semi-precious stones and beads. Imagine a chandelier in miniature with many pearls and that is what this class
is all about. All materials provided and a $50 dollar material fee required from each student.

ADVANCED SOLDERED BEACHSTONE & SILVER

A one day workshop working again with beachstones and silver, we take this new class to the next level. Soldered silver wire will be shaped and manipulated into various designs to hang beachstones and beachglass from. Earrings and
or pendants will be designed and made by each student. All materials provided and a $50 dollar material fee required from each student.

MISSA 2020 - Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts

The Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts has been providing high calibre specialized workshops for artists, teachers and serious adult students since 1984. MISSA has a reputation for hosting  local, national and international  instructors who engage with students in an intense multi-disciplinary environment. MISSA welcomes students from around the world to participate in an artistic immersion for two weeks every summer.

Artists from near and far have come together each summer to the Pearson College campus to share in spirited creative exchange. The school is positioned on the sheltered shores of Pedder Bay and looks out to the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains beyond. The campus setting provides a stimulating natural environment for artistic development and exploration. It’s easy to understand why so many return year after year to be part of the ‘MISSA Magic’!

Nanaimo Recreation Centre

INTERLOCKING BRACELET WITH ABALONE & MOTHER OF PEARL

Learn how to texture metal using the roller printer, and make an interlocking bracelet with riveted abalone and mother of pearl as the design element. Each student will design their own piece following a specific bracelet pattern using copper and adding silver as an embellishment and setting the stones as the clasp. A $50 material fee is required on the day of the class payable to the
instructor

BEACHSTONES AND SILVER

Turn natural beachstones into amazing pieces of jewelry with sterling silver. Learn to rivet, drill through stone, decorate with sterling silver embellishments and walk away with your own designed pieces. A $50 material fee is required on

SPINNER RING CLASS

 

Sunday, January 26

9:30 am – 4:00 pm

$140 (includes all materials)

Create a sterling silver, brass and copper spinner ring.  Each student will learn how to size a ring, construct a ring and embellish the metal. Spinners of different metals will be made and each piece will be unique and one of a kind. If time allows a second copper spinner ring will be made in the afternoon.
